Job Description

Position Summary

The successful candidate will possess a high degree of business acumen and maintain a strategic focus on industry and regulatory developments, while managing the supply chain from the plant to the seaborne customer.  This position could be a developmental role for an individual who has the potential to move into Operational Management or Commercial roles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administration of coal/mining Transportation Contracts.
  • Inventory Management of product at Terminal and Site including administration of third party volumetric and draft surveys.
  • Maintaining contract delivery requirements.
  • Available during off-business hours for emergent issues.
  • Communicating needs effectively with Transportation Partners, developing and maintaining relationships.
  • Monitoring and record keeping of Mining Quality on vessels and communication of contract requirements to site.
  • Providing technical support to corporate development initiatives of a strategic nature.
  • Supervision of coal/mining Testing and Sampling agreements.
  • Develop, with the Sales Director, product marketing literature and brochures.
  • Manage recording and updating of MSDS, Transportable Moisture Limit records.
  • Coordination of site Scale certifications, management of contractors and consultants where required.
  • Other duties as required.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business or other related disciplines.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the coal/mining, electrical utility, coal/mining transportation or related industry with some commercial experience is desired.
  • Sales and marketing, contract negotiations, procurement, trading, or railroad experience.
  • A technical understanding of coal/mining types and specifications, as well as the impacts of emissions requirements is desirable.
  • Computer and analytical skill are necessary. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Familiar with contracts, contract negotiations and experience in administering key contract components.
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.

Licenses, Registration, and Certifications

  • CSCP or other relevant supply chain certifications are considered assets but not required.

Typical Physical Demands

Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching.  Requires constant data input for extended periods of time without leaving the work area. Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports.

 

Typical Working Conditions

Normal office environment. Occasional evening or weekend work. Travel up to 20%.
