Surveyor

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION’S ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Under the supervision of the Production Planning Supervisor, the Surveyor will be required to collect and interpret field survey data to support and maintain mine operations, engineering, permitting and reclamation activities.  Responsible to coordinate, plan and perform detailed surveys in accordance with accepted procedures, accuracy standards and survey methodology to ensure compliance of mining activities to applicable regulations and laws.  Assist Production and Engineering staff with other job tasks as assigned. 

 QUALIFICATIONS:

Formal training or experience in Survey methodology equivalent to a two-year degree.  Progressively responsible experience of two to four years with a thorough knowledge of fundamental surveying practices and principles; related survey equipment operation; and legal standards governing compliance.  Demonstrated working knowledge of computer applications to include the utilization of sophisticated surveying instruments and associated computer software.  Experience with GPS Surveying Instruments and CADD-based voluming software is preferred.  Strong analytical and evaluative skills; ability to understand and follow precise directions; and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.  Must be capable of effectively working independently and in a team-oriented environment.  Physical ability to handle materials and perform labor in a variety of elemental conditions as well as frequent lifting and carrying of equipment and materials up to 50 lbs.
