HR Manager I
Position Summary
HR Manager I is responsible for management, execution, and delivery of local HR support and services for a designated site(s). Assures operations and deliverables meet or exceed site objectives, follows corporate and operational strategies, and integrates as appropriate with other HR functions. This role has authority regarding personnel and organizational matters which may include performance evaluations, promotions and discipline but approval and ultimate accountability may rest with the HR Manager II.
Supervisor Responsibilities
This position has supervisory responsibilities over other employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serves on the site leadership team and is the site(s) senior HR point of contact and strategic partner for senior management.
- Provides leadership coaching to site operational leaders.
- Supervises site support employees including HR generalists & specialists, payroll, or administrative support.
- Manages site HR activities such as recruiting, performance management, employee/labor relations, disciplinary action, and local talent management efforts.
- Leverages specialized knowledge about the unique mine’s practices, business needs, people, and procedures to execute HR tasks.
- Responsible for maintaining all compliance requirements for assigned site HR transactional processes.
- Researches, analyzes data and prepares quarterly reports on HR trends, new HR project suggestions and current program goals and progress.
- Participate in the development and implementationof human resources policies and procedures.
- Responds to employee relations issues, conducts investigations, and makes recommendations to operations and HR leadership for remediation.
- Is responsible for employee processes and record keeping including onboarding, offboarding, and employee position and compensation changes.
- Evaluates the results of HR projects and initiatives to ensure expectations are met and determines next steps for improvement and sustainability.
- Cross site supervision may be required.
- Perform related work as required.
Typical Physical Demands
Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires constant data input for extended periods of time without leaving the work area. Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports. Requires mobility sufficient to travel.
Typical Working Conditions
Normal office environment. Occasional evening or weekend work.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 6 years of related work experience.
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
