Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic

Position Summary

This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and overhauling mining equipment in the shop and field.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct inspections on mining equipment and report any deficiencies.
• Identify worn and damaged parts, repairing, adjusting, or replacing as needed.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs.
• Repair equipment in accordance with diagrams and manufacturer’s specifications.
• Test repaired equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
• Perform preventative maintenance and operational performance checks on equipment.
• Collect data on machine operations and suggest actions to reduce machine downtime.
• Maintain records of repairs and preventative maintenance activities.
• Operate support equipment as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• Red Seal Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license. 
• Previous experience in a mining environment is an asset.
• Must be able to work 12-hour shifts, rotating days and nights.

This position currently follows a 28-day shift rotation working day and night shifts from 7:00 to 7:00.  The shift rotation is: 3 days, 2 off, 2 nights, 3 off, 2 days, 2 off, 3 nights, 2 off, 2 days, 3 off, 2 nights, 2 off.

The Estevan Mine is located approximately 12 km from the city of Estevan and 16 km from the town of Bienfait.  The successful candidate will be responsible for his/her own accommodations and transportation.
