Summary Description:                                                                     

Responsible for the efficient and safe mining operation according to mining plan.  Coordinates and integrates production activities into the overall production plan.  Supervises first-line production supervisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:             

  • Plan, organize and communicate with the operations personnel to ensure optimum results that are in line with the production plan, established quality standards and are carried out in a cost effective, safe and environmentally responsible manner within the statutory requirements of the Mine Regulations, Environmental Regulations and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Provide direction to the Production Supervisors to ensure operations and maintenance of all equipment are well coordinated to avoid unnecessary downtime and delay.
  • Establish a positive employee and labor relations climate by conducting and participating in activities that contribute to an effective working relationship with all employees both non-union and union if applicable.
  • Promote teamwork at all levels of the operation through the communication, monitoring and revision of performance standards, ensures crew compliance to performance standards and legislation.
  • Continuous development and able to assume the duties and responsibilities of the Production Manager as required.
  • Assume other duties and responsibilities, as required, in response to changing circumstances and the physical and economic environment of the Mine and the Company.
  • Perform related work as required.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mining or geology
  • Experience in managing technical and operating personnel
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and manufacturing systems
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent client management and business literacy skills at the site level
  • Strong conflict management skills
  • Develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results
