Position Summary - Payroll Supervisor 

Payroll Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day execution of payroll operations and related processes, and may provide supervision and guidance to all payroll sites with in the US and Canada.


Supervisor Responsibilites

This position may have formal supervisory responsibilities over other employees.


Essential Duties and Responsibilites

  • Ability to process an in house payroll from timesheets to W-2s/T4s. 
  • Provides support of payroll assistants to ensure payroll is processed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Review/approve SOX checklists prior to payroll being finalized.
  • Assists in the implementation of upgrades and enhancements to the financial information system within areas of assigned responsibility. 
  • Monitors, troubleshoots, and resolves payroll processing exceptions. Coordinates activities requiring vendor/payroll provider support and resolution. 
  • Conducts regular audits to ensure that tax calculation, wage processing, and tax-related reporting results are processing correctly. 
  • Completes quarterly and yearly tax reports and W2s. Stays current, complies and provides interpretations on various rules, regulations, laws, contracts and policies. 
  • Assist internal audit team with reports and required backup for testing. 
  • Perform related work as required.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.


Ability to analyze processes and functional requirements to identify inefficiencies and propose solutions. Ability to follow both verbal and/or written policies, procedures, and instructions. Ability to prepare and present accurate and reliable reports containing findings and recommendations. Ability to use logical and creative thought processes to develop solutions according to written specifications and/or verbal instructions. Ability to perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines.


Typical Physical Demands

Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires constant data input for extended periods of time without leaving the work area. Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports. Requires mobility sufficient to travel.


Typical Working Conditions

Normal office environment. Occasional evening or weekend work.

 Education and Experience

  • Associates degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of related work experience.
