Job Description

Westmoreland Mining has a position available for a full time permanent Maintenance Planner at the Estevan mine. Reporting to the Dragline Maintenance Superintendent, this position is responsible for the implementation of the physical asset management strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Maintenance Planner will be responsible for:

  • Administering maintenance routines and schedules;
  • Keeping maintenance records;
  • Tracking maintenance key performance indicators;
  • Assisting with project planning, estimating, scope definition and cost tracking;
  • Sourcing, ordering and expediting equipment parts;
  • Participating in planning and scheduling meetings;
  • Reviewing outstanding maintenance work orders;
  • Organizing and arranging contract services;
  • Tracking equipment usage;
  • Coordinating equipment downtime with production requirements;
  • Supporting condition monitoring program;
  • Entering data in Computerized Maintenance Management System; and
  • Assuming other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Word and Excel;
  • Have previous experience using Enterprise Resource Planning software such as SAP or JDEdwards;
  • Have solid data entry and data manipulation abilities;
  • Have a degree in Engineering or a Journeyperson qualification in a related trade;
  • Demonstrate ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads and sudden or frequent changes in priority; and
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.

It would be considered an asset to have:

  • Experience planning, executing and managing projects;
  • Experience maintaining draglines or large surface mining equipment.
