Position Summary

Continuous Improvement Professional monitors and improves organizational processes with the aim of making them as efficient as possible. Defines, designs and implements process improvement as a part of the Program Management Office strategic direction, and ensures integration and alignment vertically and horizontally, across organization. Defines improvement projects aligned with business strategies and priorities. Facilitates and coaches improvement teams. Establishes and maintains performance metrics to measure project success. Utilize Lean, Six Sigma and change management methodologies and have appropriate levels of certification for the role.


Position is located in Estevan, SK.  Successful candidate may work remotely 50% and travel to Estevan 50%.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as an internal consultant, implementing short- and long-term strategies for the organization and incorporating Six Sigma, Agile, and other practices. Facilitate progress and reduce costs, both in terms of sales and workflow inefficiencies.
  • Conducts highly complex tactical project execution to ensure organization objectives are met. Contributes to the identification of projects that meet strategic objectives.
  • Drive change across the organization by analyzing existing business processes using various methods such as gap analysis or PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act), etc. to find opportunities for improvement as well as losses, to determine root causes.
  • Contributes to Operational Excellence performance metrics to ensure that organization objectives in the areas of cost, efficiency, and quality are met. Ensure all financial reporting and models are properly approved by FP&A and delivered on time.
  • Oversee daily operations and project management of assigned teams: schedule meetings, plan agendas, develop meeting materials, facilitate and lead meeting discussion, summarize decisions and next steps, assist in communication and deliverable development, develop implementation plans
  • Establish measurable standards at the start of an improvement project and compare actual results against these, regularly generating detailed update reports for management.
  • Collaborate with teams or directly with subject matter experts to re-engineer processes.
  • Provide mentoring and directs teams to demonstrate proper application and interpretation of Operational Excellence criteria
  • Monitoring progress in order to check if changes yield desirable results.
  • Serve as a coach who coordinates workshops and team trainings, openly sharing guidance and technical expertise.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred, and three to five years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Highly analytical and experienced with project coordination, using their problem-solving skills to foresee obstacles and make strategic decisions.
  • 3-5+ years mining or equivalent consulting experience with strong process management and planning expertise
  • Must be fully conversant on issues and current trends as they relate to the mining industry's products and services.
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.

Licenses, Registration, and Certifications

  • Certification in continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma/Lean/Agile or comparable continuous improvement operating systems.


  • Firm understanding of process improvement techniques and experience applying these.

  • Ability to coach and inspire other team members to give their best effort and setting the direction for initiatives.
  • Strong Communication & Presentation Skills (makes complex issues accessible to business audience, clear, concise, and audience appropriate).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Proficient with use of computer and software applications including Minitab, Microsoft Project, Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Experience in process mapping
  • Ability to manage resources both directly and via matrix management.

Typical Working Conditions

Normal office environment. Occasional evening or weekend work. Up to 50% travel may be required.
